Publishing

Since the early 2000s Jess has worked with writers and their ideas. As an editor and a writing coach, she’s spent years shaping projects in their early stages; now she’s taking them all the way to print.

At Rocky River HQ we are beginning to publish. The focus is on stories that mean something, presented beautifully, and made locally.

Our first title is due early 2027.

Writing

Jess has more than 2 decades’ experience editing, mentoring, and developing other people’s manuscripts, and — for certain interesting projects — doing the writing when others can’t quite find the words to say themselves.

Her general interests are non-fiction and academic/research. Special interests lie in archaeology, business and education, intelligence, cross-cultural anything, and art.

Retreats

Jess has run structured writing retreats in Australia and Europe; online and in-the-flesh; for businesses, universities and private groups; and most recently with a full kids program running alongside so that writing parents get a fair go as well.

Retreats provide the obvious: time and space to write. But a retreat with Jess also weaves in good food, conscious rest, and two decades of distilled writing wisdom ready for any obstacle. These retreats change your relationship with writing, and you take that home with you (along with your pages and pages of new writing).

We have a beautiful venue at RRHQ to host retreats, and we occasionally put one on for our locals and extended community.

Jess also welcomes retreat bookings from other groups too, and is up for the adventure of coming to you to run a retreat, anywhere in Australia.

Snap writing

casual 🌱 flexible 🌱 free

An international writing group connected via WhatsApp, doing occasional and asynchronous 2-hour writing sessions together, from wherever we are.

We share our goals each week, but not our writing with each other.

Writing can be on any topic, in any language. (Or even not writing at all; sometimes we’re focusing on art, business admin, or other focus topics.)

There is no pressure to join in the chat or the writing every time.

New group members are welcome.
